I discovered this food truck, (or rather they discovered me) at a yelp new comers event. I figured since they had the courage to cater to an event filled with newly self proclaimed food critics that I should not pass on this opportunity. I was not disappointed. This food truck was the bomb. The food was made with fresh ingredients and exploding with flavor. I'm not sure where they typically park during working hours but it is definitely worth investigating. I had said something to the owner about the lack of red meat on the meal, and she said that they were going incorporate a type of cheese steak into the meal. You are very welcome world... But honestly though small menu but everything that I tried was mind blowing. I recommend this food truck to everyone I come across. F.Y.I. the Jacked up Doritos need to be a real flavor. Blanketed with both cheddar and parmesan cheese, fresh herbs and then tossed with truffle oil... The combination left me speechless. Three thumbs way up on creativity, taste and price. A great spot for taking your taste buds for a rollercoaster ride that will keep both your stomach and your wallet full by the end of your meal.
Nice variety with a special twist. I ordered the crushed potato then feeling a bit wild I upped to the combo and asked to have the pulled pork (minus the bun) placed on top. Mmmmmm it was good. It was great that they never batted an eye about going off menu. Noticed that other folks started to do the same thing. Very accommodating and prepared quick and with a warm handshake.
If you see the around I would definitely go back for the burger or Caesar Pita. The pork had good flavored with out being greasy and the potato hand nice crunchy pits that made the dish.
If I had an issue it was the lollipop pushed through the lid. When I pulled it out it had the sauce from the pork on the handle making it to sticky to want to deal with.
I first encountered this food truck at a Guerrilla Cinema pop-up movie/dance event across the river this past the summer. Digging into their "Jacked Up Doritos", I was impressed with their mission of taking comfort food and making it edgy. Doritos bathed in parmesan, truffle oil and more certainly did the trick on that front.
Last night was my second visit to their window as they were the food truck supporting the Yelp newcomer event at Tillie's. Rather than just a side, my wife and I went for a full meal trying two sandwiches and a side. We had the "Chef Shane's Favorite" (summer sausage, pastrami, swiss, pickle, salsa and horseradish on a solid bun) sandwich, a "Brigade BBQ Pork" (teriyaki bbq sauce, sesame, lettuce, hummus kimchi and chorizo on a solid bun) plus a "Kale Parmesan Salad (bathed perfectly in raisins, nuts, lemon and olive oil).
To say this meal was out of this world would be an understatement. It was delightful and was adventurous, but not so much that it lost that comfort food angle. This should not surprise as Shane, their chef, was the Executive Chef of The Meridian Club on Pine Cay, an exclusive, private island resort, in The Turks and Caicos Islands. His story, which I got to hear over the course of the evening was an impressive one and the staff of this food truck was delightful.
Count me as a fan of their culinary creativity and I'll be following them on social media to see where I can bump into them next.
Holy Crap!!! Probably the best Mac and Cheese I have ever had! The carnitas mac and cheese was amazing! I cannot wait to try their other items.
I had the steak tacos and the street chef fries - both were to die for! Those items, paired with Streetside Brewery were the best part of my night. The tacos were messy, fully of delightful flavors and everything you expect street tacos to be. The street chef fries were covered in cheese and had BBQ sauce to dip - it made ordinary potato skins look bland compared to what I was served. I highly recommend!
I learned of Street Chef Brigade from a Yelp event. Although, I had not planned on eating dinner... The smells wafting from the food truck were too overwhelming to pass up!
They're menu consists of pitas, burgers, and sandwiches in the $6-8 range and sides in the $5 range. They also offer combos of your choice of sandwich/pita and a side for $10! I ended up getting the Sashimi Tuna Pita with a side of the Jacked Up Doritos. Both were delicious and different from anything that I have had! The tuna in the pita tasted fresh and was well complimented by the seasoning and additions to the sandwich. The Doritos were so good, that I probably could have eaten a full size portion of given the chance!
I will definitely be looking out for the Street Chef Brigade food truck around town!
